"Dry" and "Drying" Oils, What is the difference?

Dry oils

Some oils will have a dry feel when applied to the skin and tend to absorb pretty quickly. They have an astringent quality that helps draw tissue together and promote cell regeneration, making them ideal for issues to do with skin tissue repair. They are oils that do not feel greasy on the skin but still have a protective quality. The tannins in their unsaponifiable portion, like Gallic acid, help to achieve that.

Some Dry oils include: Grapeseed, Jojoba, Rosehip and Camelina

Drying oils

Drying oils like flaxseed and safflower are highly polyunsaturated oils that react quickly to the oxygen, heat and light in the air and will be dry to the touch over time. They leave a “drying” feel behind.

Some Drying oils include: Flaxseed and Safflower
