Aromatic India: A Journey Through Scent, Culture, and Connection

Growing up in Egypt, I was surrounded by a culture rich in history, aroma, and tradition. From the bustling spice markets to the colourful fabrics and deep-rooted rituals, scent was always woven into daily life. Yet alongside this heritage, I was always fascinated by India. To me, it felt like a place that mirrored Egypt in some ways, equally ancient, equally vibrant, yet utterly distinct in its food, clothing, and rituals. India’s colourful and layered history has always drawn me in, sparking a curiosity that began as personal research and grew into profound respect and admiration.

My desire to explore India was always rooted in a personal connection. I was never drawn to the fast-paced nature of large group tours or the superficiality of multi-stop itineraries. I craved a more intimate, thoughtful experience, one that was guided by a local perspective, revealing the nuances of a culture in a way that no book or documentary could.

That is how Aromatic India was born. This journey is my way of weaving together the places, traditions, and aromas I’ve long been drawn to, creating a thoughtfully curated itinerary that balances cultural depth with personal discovery.

A curated itinerary

Over 11 days, we’ll explore the role of scent in India’s history, spirituality, and daily life. Our journey will take us through bustling spice markets, where we’ll learn about and experience the making of traditional attars.

We'll also visit rose fields and witness the art of distillation. Alongside these aromatic encounters, we’ll soak in the colours of northern India, visit iconic landmarks, and experience the rhythm of daily life as locals do. Each day will be a unique blend of cultural exploration and personal discovery.

Every detail of Aromatic India has been crafted to slow the pace, to allow space for connection with the culture, with each other, and with ourselves. We'll delve into the world of Indian aromatics, from the bustling spice markets to the serene rose fields. We'll experience the vibrant colours and the rich history of India’s iconic landmarks. But what truly sets this journey apart is the opportunity to connect with India on a deeper, more personal level, through its aromas, its traditions, and its stories, in a way that lingers long after we return home.

I’d love to invite you to join me on this journey, to share in the discoveries, the scents, and the moments that make Aromatic India so special.
